Start with the elevation problem you need to solve
A low spot alone does not explain what happened beneath the slab. One panel may have dropped, an adjacent section may have risen, or several sections may have moved differently. We begin with the condition that affects you: a difficult garage entrance, a trip edge, standing water or an uneven vehicle approach.

The purpose of that evaluation is to establish what can remain, which sections need work and how the proposed elevations fit the property. Conditions beneath existing concrete may become clearer only after removal.

In Cedar Heights, Colorado Springs, Driveway King replaced a 1,250 square foot driveway in June 2024. Uneven panels and worn edges interrupted the approach to the garage, and the sloped setting called for coordinated transitions between sections.
After removal, excavation created room where additional base depth was needed. Gravel was compacted in layers, and form work established the panel arrangement, garage connection and drainage direction. Reinforcement, broom finishing, planned control joints and separation at adjoining structures completed the new panels, followed by curing protection.
The finished approach brought the route to the garage together through defined panels and coordinated edges. This project demonstrates why an uneven driveway evaluation should include the whole approach, including the connections between panels.

Lifting is a separate specialty to assess when the slab is suitable. Driveway King's role here is to evaluate the repair or replacement construction we can provide. We do not treat lifting and replacement as interchangeable quotes: one retains the existing slab, while the other opens the footprint for preparation and new construction.
Check the garage, street and water route together
Correcting one low panel is useful only if the finished approach still works at its other connections. During evaluation, we consider:
- The garage threshold and direction of water flow near the house.
- Grade changes that affect vehicle clearance.
- Connections to sidewalks, adjoining panels and the street.
- Water arriving from downspouts, irrigation or surrounding ground.
- Edges where visible washout or loose material warrants attention.
A driveway cannot be raised indefinitely beside a fixed garage floor. A new profile may require a different transition or separately scoped drainage work. We explain those relationships before setting forms.
What replacement allows us to address
Within the agreed removal limits, we remove and haul away the old concrete, evaluate the exposed ground, address identified base needs and install compacted gravel. Form work establishes the replacement edges and elevations. Supported reinforcement, the specified slab, a suitable finish, planned joints and curing complete the construction sequence.
The written proposal identifies the selected panels or full footprint. It also distinguishes included preparation from additional work that may be needed after demolition. Any added scope and price require written approval before that work proceeds.

Give us the symptoms, even if you do not know the cause
Tell us where the driveway feels uneven and whether the condition changes after rain or through the seasons. Photos from the garage and street are helpful, especially with close views of displaced joints. They are optional, and you do not need measurements before contacting us.
For an initial replacement budget, our cost guide uses approximately $10 per square foot for entry conditions, $15 for typical work and $22 or more for complex work. A small panel correction has its own removal, access and placement requirements; multiplying its area by a full driveway benchmark does not establish its price.
Frequently asked questions
Does a sunken driveway always need full replacement?
No. An intact displaced panel may warrant a lifting assessment, while a limited damaged area may suit panel replacement. The decision depends on the slab condition, surrounding elevations and whether the correction can address the problem without creating another one.
Can you pour a thin layer over a sunken section?
A surface layer does not rebuild the support beneath the existing slab. It also changes the way the surface meets adjacent panels and the garage. Any overlay needs a suitable substrate and a specific elevation plan.
Does uneven concrete prove that the original contractor used a bad base?
No. The visible condition does not establish a single cause. We evaluate the available site information and describe what the proposed work will address instead of assigning a cause from a photograph.
Can you replace the low section beside my garage?
That may be possible if the new section can connect properly to the garage and retained driveway. We check runoff, vehicle clearance and the condition of adjoining panels before defining the removal boundary.
Will replacement stop water from running toward my garage?
Replacement can change driveway elevations where the property allows. Water arriving from other areas may require a separate solution. The proposal should identify the intended drainage route and any related work needed to achieve it.
