Concrete Porches and Entry Slabs
An entry slab that slopes toward the house sends water to the foundation every time it rains. An entry slab poured tight against the foundation transfers movement into it. Both are common, and both are avoidable when it is built right.
Slope and drainage
Sloping the slab away from the house is not optional. Landings and thresholds are set so the slab sheds water and door clearances still work.
Isolation at the foundation
An isolation joint separates the slab from the foundation so seasonal movement does not transfer between them.
Finish and transitions
Traction matters most at the front door in winter. We choose a finish for grip, and set transitions to steps and walks so there are no surprises underfoot.

Can you replace just the entry slab?
Yes. It is cut free of adjacent work, removed, the base rebuilt, and a new slab poured with the correct slope and isolation.
