Concrete driveway maintenance comes down to four habits: keep water out of the base by maintaining joints, keep deicers off the surface, keep gutter and irrigation water away from the slab, and apply a quality penetrating sealer after the first year on the manufacturer's reapplication schedule.
First year
No deicers through the first winter. Keep sprinklers off the slab. Sweep sand and debris out of joints. Wait until after the first year to seal, so the concrete has finished its initial curing.
Annually
Walk the driveway each spring. Look for opened joints, edge erosion, new cracks, and low spots holding water. Address joints early, because open joints are how water reaches the base.

Every few years
Reapply penetrating sealer on the manufacturer's schedule. Address settled panels or edge damage before they let more water into the base.

Chloride based deicers, pressure washing at settings that erode the surface, parking heavy equipment on the same spot for extended periods, and letting landscape material hold moisture against the slab edge.
